The highly anticipated film Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, has officially been announced by producer Namit Malhotra. The makers announced the release date of the live-action movie with the first poster on November 5. This epic adaptation will be released in two parts, with Part One hitting theaters on Diwali 2026 and Part Two following on Diwali 2027.

Cast and Characters
The film boasts a star-studded cast, with Ranbir Kapoor portraying Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita. Yash will take on the role of Ravana. The supporting cast too boasts big names like Sunny Deol, Ravi Dube, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, Baahubali fame Ramya Krishnan and Sheeba Chaddha among many others.
As per reports, Ravi Dubey will essay the role of Lord Ram’s brother Lakshman, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, Lara Dutta will be Kekayi and OG Lord Ram Arjun Govil as Raja Dashrath. There is no clarity on the role of other cast members like Rakul Preet Singh and Sheeba Chadha. As per industry chatter, superstar Amitabh Bachchan might also feature in the movie for the bride role of majestic Jatayu. Leaked images from the set have already generated buzz on social media, showcasing Ranbir and Sai in their costumes.
Budget
Ramayana is not just mounted on a big and ambitious cast. The Ranbir Kapoor starrer is also said to be one of the most expensive movies in Indian cinema. As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, the film is made on a budget of ₹835 crore.
A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Ramayana is not just a film but an emotion and the makers are leaving no stone unturned to make it a global spectacle. The USD 100 Million ( ₹835 crore) budget is just for Ramayana: Part One.
